CAREER OPPORTUNITY - FULL-TIME DIRECTOR

Due to retirement, the Lester Public Library of Rome, a SCLS award winning library, is looking for an energetic, tech-savy, community minded Director with a vision for the future.

The Town of Rome is a growing recreational community located 12 miles south of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin on State Highway 13.  Abundant recreation includes four lakes, multiple golf courses, the Wisconsin Trap Shooting Complex, Tri-Norse Ski Jump, Dyracuse recreational park, and an active snowmobile club. Rome has a residential population of 2,900 with a surge to more than 12,000 over the summer months. 

The recently renovated 6,525 square foot library includes a new community room, vibrant children’s and young adult areas, and an adult reading area with a welcoming fireplace.  It is surrounded by beautiful gardens maintained by the Wood County Master Gardener Volunteers. An active Friends group supports the library with programming and fundraising.  The library is a member of the South Central Library System and the LINKcat consortium, powered by LibLime Koha.

Preferrred Qualifications: A successful candidate will possess a Wisconsin Grade 2 Public Library Certification, a Bachelor degree or a MLIS degree from an accredited institution.  Recent MLIS graduates are welcome to apply. Previous library experience in a supervisory position is preferred. It is vital this person have excellent verbal and written communication skills, knowledge of current library technology, and working with budgets. The ability to work effectively with the library board, library employees, volunteers and the community is expected. Varying work hours include days, evenings, and some Saturdays.

Salary and Benefits:  Starting annual salary is $38,000 – $40,000 dependent on education and qualifications.  A generous benefits package includes health, dental, vision and life insurance; Wisconsin Retirement System, health savings account, and paid vacation, personal, and sick days.
