Summer Reading Program: Make A Splash READ!
Summer Library Program begins with a Kickoff Picnic on Saturday, June 19 beginning at 10am – 1 pm at the library. The weekly programs begin at 2 p.m. on June 22 and will continue every Tuesday through July 27. Children, parents and grandparents are all invited to enjoy crafts, reading books, live performances and lots of fun this summer. Remember, we give away two bicycles for the top two youth readers of the summer!
Join us this summer as we explore the theme, “Make a Splash READ!” through programs, books and activities at the Lester Public Library of Rome. The 2010 Summer Reading Program is open to young people, preschool age through middle school ages, and adults. The library will have weekly crafts, prize drawings, trivia contests, public performances, and more. Here is a preview of the scheduled programs:
Saturday, June 19 – 10am to 1 pm Kickoff Picnic fun, food & games.
Tuesday, June 22 – 2:00 pm – Fox & Branch – Family Folk Music
Thursday, June 24 – 6:00 pm – TeensRead@ the library (must be 13 or older to join)
Tuesday, June 29 – 2:00 pm – Atwood Players - The Fisherman and His Wife
Thursday, July 1 – 6:00 pm - TeensRead@ the library (must be 13 or older to join)
Tuesday, July 6 – 2:00 pm – TAPIT presents Mystery of the Missing Word, tap dancing and storytelling
Thursday, July 8 – 6:00 pm - TeensRead@ the library (must be 13 or older to join)
Tuesday, July 13 – 2:00 pm – Jeff McMullen Magic Show
Thursday, July 15 – 6:00 pm - TeensRead@ the library (must be 13 or older to join). Awards will be given on July 27 – turn in reading logs by July 15.
Tuesday, July 20 – 2:00 pm – Reed Marionettes Treasure of the Great Lakes. All reading records must be turned in at the July 20th program to be eligible for awards.
Thursday, July 22, 6:00 pm - TeensRead@ the library (must be 13 or older to join)
Tuesday, July 27 - 2:00 pm – Reading Awards Day & Party held at the Rome Town hall.
We invite families and visiting friends in the Rome area to attend any of the programs planned for this summer’s reading fun. The library welcomes adults and children of all abilities. If special accommodations are needed please contact the library two weeks in advance at 715-325-8990.
Registration for the Summer Library Program begins on June 22, 2010 at our first performance. Children may arrive at 2:00 pm to register for prizes and participate in weekly contests; performance begins at 2:30 pm. All programs are free of charge and are held at the Rome Municipal Building.
