Summer Reading Program 2021-Tails and Tales

2021 Tails and Tales Summer Reading Programs: All ages are welcome and programs are free to the public.

Family Programs:

· Tuesday, June 1st: Registration Week Begins: Register and receive your folder and reading slips for the reading program.

· Tuesday, June 15th - 3:00 - 4:00pm: “Whale of a Tale” by Colossal Fossils 
  Learn all about whales, their ancestors, and their unique adaptations that allowed them to become the world's biggest animals that ever lived.  
  This program features a collection of huge bones that will show you just how amazing these giants truly are.

· Thursday, June 17th - 3:00 - 5:00pm: Live Action Angry Birds: Try your hand at a Live Action Angry Birds game. Destroy towers and knock down the pigs.

· Saturday, June 19th - 9:00 am - 12:00 pm: JAM’s Alpaca Ranch
  Come meet Jellybean Lee the Alpaca. Learn about Alpacas and have the opportunity to give them a treat.  Then enjoy Alpaca themed crafts.

· Monday, June 21st 12:00 - 5:00 pm: Animal House Craft-Paint day
 Come to the library to paint an animal home. Leave them to dry, then decorate  your new home on Wednesday, the 23rd, after the Wildlife Presentation. All  houses must be picked up by Friday, June 25th.

· Wednesday, June 23rd - 11:00 am: Where Do Animals Live?  
   Join us as Necedah Wildlife uses a game to reinforce why animals live in different places depending on their unique needs. After the Zoom presentation, finish  decorating your animal house to take home.

· Tuesday, June 29th  - 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm : Elmore Lawson Drum Circle
   Collaborate to create music as a community. Learn how to participate in a drum circle, including rhythms, chants, call and response and solo phrases.

· Thursday, July 8th - 2:00 - 5:00 pm: Cookie Wars: REGISTRATION REQUIRED.   Test your decorating skills in our Cookie Wars contest. Decorated cookies will be judged by our Facebook community and a winner will  be  announced one week after the decorating event. May the best cookie decorator win!

· Friday, July 9th - 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm: The Three Billy Goats Gruff
  Sit back and relax as Pam Corcoran retells the classic tale of the Three Billy Goats Gruff with her puppets.

· Monday, July 12th - Saturday, July 17th: Animal Safari Scavenger Hunt:  Search the Children’s area of the library for 10 hidden animals. Find each one to collect an animal body part and create your own animal.

· Tuesday, July 13th - Family Mural Painting with Becky Winter:REGISTRATION REQUIRED   Two sessions available.   Session 1 : 12:00 - 2:00 pm   Session 2 : 3:00 - 5:00 pm
  Family members each paint their own animal picture that is put together to create a family mural.                                                     

· Saturday, July 17th - 10:00 am - 12:00 pm: Marvel at Monarch Migration.
   Discover the four life stages , along with timeline of the monarch butterfly . We will explore the unique monarch butterfly super generation and its magnificent journey to Mexico. After the presentation,
   enjoy monarch crafts to take home.

· Tuesday, July 20th 3:00 - 4:00 pm: Shark Week Crafts: Go underwater for some ocean creature crafts. Dive in and make crabs, sharks, and turtles at the library. 

Ongoing  Programs

· Rock Painting - Fridays in June and July 1:00 - 3:00 pm: All materials will be supplied. We will have examples or create your own ideas.

       · Legos - Wednesdays in June and July 2:00 - 4:00pm:Come to the library and build some awesome Lego creations.
          June 16th, June 30th, July 14th,  July 28th

        · Puzzle Days - Select Days 2:00 - 5:00 pm   Gather your puzzle buddies or go it alone and start hunting for the next piece!
           June 14th, June 24th, July 26th

Last day to turn in reading slips is July 21st. Please note all prizes must be picked up in person.

Summer Reading Program Finale

 Saturday, July 24th from 9:00am - 12:00pm at Papa Bear’s Mini Golf:
 Join us at Papa Bear’s Mini Golf to celebrate our finale.  Active participants will receive a free round of golf and ice cream treat.
