Summer Library Program

“On Your Mark, Get Set…Read!”

 

Our Summer Reading Program begins at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, June 21st at the Rome Town Hall and will continue every Tuesday through July 26th.  Children, parents, and grandparents are invited to join us for a summer full of reading great books and exciting performances.  All children who participate will have the opportunity to win weekly prizes and earn raffle tickets to enter a grand prize drawing at our final wrap-up party and Library Olympics on July 26th.

 

 Here is a preview of our scheduled performances:

 

  • Tuesday, June 21st– 2:00 pm: Feel the Wonder of Magic - Watch a magic show and learn some magic tricks 
  • Thursday, June 23rd– 6:00 pm: TeensRead@ the Library
  •  Tuesday, June 28th– 2:00 pm: Drum Circle - Come learn the basic of drumming and participate in a drum circle
  • Thursday, June 30th   – 6:00 pm: TeensRead@ the Library
  • Tuesday, July 5th  – 2:00 pm: Hillbilly Science Spectacular - Watch and learn as Dr. Cletus Beaker performs wacky science experiments
  • Thursday, July 7th6:00 pm: Teens Read@the Library
  • Tuesday, July 12th – 2:00 pm:  Doug the Jug’s Wide World of Sports Juggling Extravaganza

          Enjoy sport’s themed juggling with a touch of magic

  • Thursday, July 14th– 6:00 pm: TeensRead@ the Library          ~ Last Day for teens to turn in Reading Logs for Raffle Tickets
  • Tuesday, July 19th– 2:00 pm: The Rope Warrior - Come see Guinness World Record Holder David Fisher’s amazing trick jump roping.

  • Thursday, July 21st  – 6:00 pm: TeensRead@ the Library
  • Tuesday, July 26th  – 2:00 pm: Grand Finale  - Come Compete in the Library Olympics and see our Grand Prize Drawing

REGISTRATION

Registration begins June 1st. Stop by the library to register and pick up your packet. We encourage early registration so you can get started reading but registration will also be available on June 21st at our first performance. Completed reading records can be turned in at performances or dropped off at the library. All programs are FREE OF CHARGE and are held at the Rome Town Hall.

 

PRESCHOOL READING PROGRAM @ ROME TOWN HALL

  • Preschoolers who cannot yet read on their own
  • Parents read to their child every day
  • Keep a reading log to earn raffle tickets for our Grand Prize drawing

 

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AGE READING PROGRAM @

ROME TOWN HALL

  • Readers in 1st through 3rd grades
  • Read 2 hours per week
  • Keep a reading log to earn raffle tickets for our Grand Prize drawing

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL AGE READING PROGRAM @ ROME TOWN HALL

  • Readers in 4th through 6th grades
  • Read 2 hours per week or two 100-page novels
  • Keep a reading log to earn raffle tickets for our Grand Prize drawing

 

TeensREAD SUMMER PROGRAM @ ROME LIBRARY

  • 13 and older
  • Come to our first meeting at the library on June 23rd to find out more about the fun activities we will be doing this summer
  • Keep a reading log to earn raffle tickets for our Grand Prize drawing

 

  • All preschoolers must be accompanied by an adult.
  • All programs are 60-75 minutes in length.
