In the coming months, patrons may see items with an additional status of “Local Hold” in the LINKcat Discovery Layer. In the Mobile app, only the “Local Hold”status displays for these items. Patrons will have to check the full catalog to see if the item is Available or Checked out.
Items with this status are part of a pilot project to temporarily allow only local library patrons access to NEW Adult Fiction titles that their library has purchased.
Items with this status will only fill local hold requests (patron with a Home library the same as the Owning library) or will remain on a shelf at the library to provide walk-in/browse access for local patrons.
Items will have this “Local Hold” status for up to 60 days. After 60 days, items will be available to fill hold requests for patrons from other LINKcat libraries.
