History of NYAT
Not Your Average Triathlon
NYAT (Not Your Average Triathlon) originated as a FUN Walk for citizens of the Town of Rome in Wisconsin. After the fourth successful FUN Walk the organizers of the event, The Friends of the Lester Public Library of Rome, wanted to promote itself and Adams County as a place for all seasons and expand on providing a healthy event for families and the sport minded.
The idea of a non competitive triathlon evolved to support this objective. Kayaking/Canoeing replaced swimming with Barnum Bay and Lake Petenwell being an ideal location.
The first NYAT was held on May 26, 2012. The date proved to be perfect since Adams County is a large recreational area in Wisconsin with many families gathering at their vacation homes for the Memorial Day weekend.
The timing of the event early on Saturday morning provides a great start to the weekend. Onsite registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with actual events starting at 8:30 a.m. Conclusion of all events is 11:45 a.m. Mail Registration or Online Registration
